Progear 750 Rower Review
Comfort
The machine comes with a cushioned seat which is 1.8 inches thick. The seat has a long life as it uses vinyl upholstery, then there is a backrest attached that is also cuisined. The surface of the seat uses steel as the material and has roller sets. There are 4 rollers that are attached on the rail top and 2 below it to maintain the position of the seat. There is an easy movement as the seat accommodates ball bearings. The height range that is possible to use the seat is 4’9” to 6’1”.
Frame and Build
The machine is lightweight. It weighs 54 lbs and uses steel for its construction and is therefore durable. The machine does not wobble while you are exercising and prevents any kind of mis happening. It can be altered to 3 different inclinations, 0, 3, 5 degrees, therefore, it is good for your legs to extend in any direction. The machine is durable and has a warranty period of 1 year. During this period you can get the machine fixed in case of any mishandling. To workout, you need to be careful about leaving 2 feet clearance at the rear end for momentum.
Space Optimization
The machine can be folded and stored, the backrest clings to the front and stays with the help of 2 knobs so that you can attach or detach it from the rail. Also, you can fold the oars in parallel to the rail. The machine is lightweight and can be moved without much difficulty and it is not bulky like other regular oars. Even the stabilizer can be folded set into 3 different positions as per your suitability. While using the machine, you need a good surface area but at the same time, it can be stirred conveniently.
Resistance
The machine offers 3 resistance levels so that you can row dynamically. It depends on how much intensity your body can use. If you attached the cylinder to the peak on the oar, they will be extended making the oars stay in the rear side and as a result would produce more resistance. The oar works on itself and is not dependent. You need to move your arm a little outside while rotating with each pull, this involves different muscle groups to act out while you move back and forth. It provides hydraulic resistance and not water or air resistance. The machine does not give you a constant workout but instead a dynamic push.
Exercise Monitor
The exercise monitor comes with a display screen which shows time, count, calories, total count and the number of repetitions. The screen is readable and works on a battery which is included in the purchase price of the machine. The machine detects how the oar is moving and it would flash the parameters within a few seconds. However, if the machine is left idle for some time, then it automatically switches off. You can choose the scan mode to see all the parameters blinking one by one. Or you can reset the parameters with the reset button. If you press it for a longer duration, then it turns to zero. However, the screen is not backlit to allow viewing in the dark that is one small drawback.
Workout Exercises
The machine allows you to perform more than a simple rowing exercise. It includes exercises like bent over row, ab extension, pec fly, front press, shoulder press, bicep curls, kick back triceps, rotation row (lateral), standard row, pull downs. If you wish to perform these different exercises, then you need to set a pad according to the position of the mahine for instance, in case you wish to exercise shoulder press then you need to set the cylinders and oars in straight posture and workout. Not just that, you can use it to perform other dumbbell exercises as well by placing the large pad in a straight position.

Assembling and Maintenance:
The machine comes pre assembled with most of the units. All you need to do is set the pad in the correct position based on which you can perform different exercises. In case of any clarification, you can refer to the user manual which comes with the machine. You need not spend more than an hour assembling and you can immediately start working out. However, maintenance is something that the machine requires. The machine needs lubrication frequently and the sliding rail needs to be wiped off every now and then to prevent any dirt particles from setting in. You need to make sure that there are no particles gathered around the seat rollers that can hamper the quality of the parts. Other than that, you need to check that the bolts are turned off so as to avoid any injury.
Conclusion
The ProGear 750 Rower is a hydraulic machine which comes with 2 cylinders to function. The machine’s parts can be moved independent of each other. It is not restricted to a simple rowing exercise, instead you can perform a variety of exercises to enhance a complete body workout from head to toe. The machine is not very expensive and is available under 200 dollars. The machine can be folded and stored. Therefore it optimizes space. It does not price any unwanted noise and doesn’t disturb your daily household chores. However, this machine cannot accommodate very tall people and lacks a pulse reading calculator.
The exercise meter also lacks a backlight which might trouble some users. Other than that, the machine can be inclined to 3 positions and it uses 3 different levels of resistance for enhancing your strength while exercising, you would feel the actual rowing. The machine requires lubrication to function properly from time to time. Also you need to make sure the dust particles are not collected in the parts of the machine. Check if the bolts are in the proper place, so as to avoid any injury. The machine is capable of withstanding a weight of 220 lbs, so obese people can also use it.

So, my wife and I love the rower, but not so much the assembly/setup instructions. Then, when a part fell off and the display stopped working, I discovered that they don’t take phone calls anymore. Worse, they offer live chat; you spend ten minutes typing in all the required information; you’re told that a rep will be with you shortly, and then about three minutes later, you’re told that no one is available. A simple message that they aren’t providing live chat anymore either would have saved a lot of time. That’s a lot of cutback for COVID, especially with the ease of working from home.
I have emailed them now – we’ll see how that goes.
I looked at the faqs and I’m mystified about how to attach a weight. Saw no reference to that in the documentation that came with the unit. I’m not sure that’s correct because you can set the rower arms to provide several different pull forces.
I must be missing something. The title of this review has the word “manual” in it. I can’t find a link to it, nor can I find one by searching Google.
Hi, Can I get a copy of the 1200xl manual? Thanks
