May 31, 2019 By Elina Desandra 4 Comments

NordicTrack has been known for making some advanced rowing machine. Recently, they have launched the NordicTrack RW900, which has created the buzz among fitness enthusiasts around the world. This next generation rower comes with live training, on-demand workout, and with 22 inches wide display. After the RW200, RW500, this is the third rower in the series.

If you want the basic features, then RW200 is the option for you. If you want something at the higher end, RW900 is the one; you should go for. It has 26 resistance levels, 30 preset programs, and wide HD touch screen display. NordicTrack has always been adding the displays to their machines, but this one is the biggest in all of them.

What really makes this machine special that it has Company’s iFit coaching program, the first year of which is completely free. You can take these on-demand classes, anywhere across the world.

What i personally love about the machine is its auto adjusting resistance. In most of the rowing machines, you have to adjust the level of resistance manually, but here as you make your progress in the class, your resistance is auto adjusted. This iFit program doesn’t confine you to rowing. Instead, you can try a variety of workouts like Yoga, Stretching, and Cross Training as well.

Its immersive experience gives you the feel as if you are rowing in the real water. There is a lot of mixed opinions there about this machine. A lot of experts are saying that it is much hyped while others add that it deserves the hype as it is really transforming in the niche of home rowing.

When it comes to storage, the machine can be folded from the middle, which makes it easy to store in a small area. RW900 is aesthetic beauty, you keep it in your house, and it looks like a piece of decor. You also get a good warranty with the product.

  • Frame Warranty: 15years
  • Parts Warranty: 5years
  • Labor: 2Years

According to the company, they have made changes in the flywheel system that has reduced the noise and made the rowing more smoother. We’ll discuss more in detail in the Review section. So, read the whole article thoroughly, and in case you have any confusion, you can let us know in the comments below, we’ll try to respond as soon as possible.

RW900 Review

In this section, we’ll talk about different important aspects of the rower that you should be aware of. We’ll cover build quality, performance, different programs, and much more. So, let’s dive into each one of them one by one.

Build Quality
It has good build quality which is palpable with the warranty period that you get with the machine. It has 15 years of frame warranty and five years of parts warranty. Its wide 22-inch display is very responsive and allows you to have access to an ample amount of data. It comes with Velcro straps which ensures safety and security while you are doing the high-intensity workout. Its design is also very unique, which allows you to fold from the middle and gives you the space saving storage. Its user weight capacity is up to 250 pounds.

Performance
It has dual resistance controls in which your personal trainer controls the resistance depending on your performance. You can also change it manually for high intensity and strength building workout. The rower is almost silent, which makes it a perfect fit for your home. The person sitting next door won’t be getting disturbed. It has big pedals where you can adjust your feet at your disposal so that you can row it at your comfort.

Ease of Use
Though the machine comes with a lot of advanced features, it is still very easy to use. The navigation system in the console is pretty simple. You fiddle around with it for a while, and you’ll get used to it. With a single tap on the screen, you can switch among different workout programs in iFit Coach. The molded seat of the rower fits perfectly to your buttocks, and you can do longer workouts without feeling the pain.
What i really like about the machine, that more than a gym equipment, it gives you the feel of fun equipment which is loaded with hundreds of videos. You never get bored with the rower; there is always something new to explore. These immersive videos will take you around the world through rowing. If you want to buy the machine, you can visit their official website.

Live Chat & Music
You also get live chat options in RW900 where you can talk to your personal trainer and have a proper track of your workout. Though, for a few services, you have to spend some extra bucks. But, the nominal fee is completely worth it. All the videos also have music added to it, which gives you the rhythm when you hit the rower. You never feel like stopping.

Assembly & Maintenance
The rower has very low maintenance and lasts for years without a glitch as it is very clear from its long term warranty period. For more information about assembly and maintenance. You can download the NordicTrack RW900 User Manual from here.

NordicTrack RW200 vs. RW500 vs. RW900

RW200: This is the NordicTrack base model, which comes with 24 levels of resistance. It has a backlit display, and there is a total of 20 preset workouts to choose from. The maximum user capacity is 250 lbs, but you get only five years of frame warranty.

RW500: This is one of the most popular rowers in this series. It has 30 workout presets, 26 levels of resistance, and ten years of frame warranty. iFit Coach Technology also adds immersive experience.

RW900: It is almost the same as RW500; the only difference is a 22 inches screen. Though, there is a $500 difference between both. It is one of the priciest rowing machines.

Pros & Cons

Pros
  • NordicTrack RW900 comes with iFit training, which adds fun to the workout while Concept2 is a bit boring and conventional gym machine.
  • RW900 is a magnetic driven resistance while Concept2 has air resistance system.
  • In terms of noise, NordicTrack is almost silent while C2 makes some noise.
  • If you are a recreational user, then NordicTrack can be the right choice. If you are a cross-fit enthusiast, then C2 would be your right companion.
  • In terms of build quality and user capacity, Concept2 wins, but when it comes to aesthetic beauty, NordicTrack fits perfectly in your home.
  • NordicTrack has auto adjusting resistance while in Concept2, you have to do it manually.
Cons
  • Some Users said that there is a bit difference between what a company claims and what you get in terms of iFit Features. There are a lot of features still under development.
  • Most of the programs are pre-loaded. You can’t watch live television or youtube video on the screen.
  • In terms of User capacity, it only has up to 250 lbs, which are less than the Concept2 user limit.
  • The machine is not very popular. It has only 4-5 reviews online. So, there is no online credibility as such.
  • It is $500 costlier than the previous RW500 version and the only difference between is the slightly bigger screen.
  • The “Google Maps” movement while rowing doesn’t properly sync with the speed and intensity of your rowing.
Editor's Choice

Verdict

This is the high-end indoor rowing machine for home. If you are a recreational user and want some fun in your exercise, then it is the perfect fit for you. Its 22inches wide touch screen display provides you an immersive experience. Fifteen years of frame warranty already gives you an idea about its sturdy build.

iFit Coach keeps track of your daily workout and shows your progress as you make your progress in the class. And the best thing about it that you get the first-year subscription completely free.

Though some users find its $1599 tag bit pricey, but i would say it’s worth considering its advanced features. If you are a beginner and want to buy something affordable. Then, you can try this machine, which is the cheapest & best rowing machine in 2020.
