The treadmill has a life in the range of 7 to 12 years. On average the treadmill runs for around 10 years, if moderate care is given. The good thing with NordicTrack treadmills is the warranty that they cover is of 10 years for frame, 2 years for the components and another 1 year as a labor warranty for any fixation issues that arrive.
But you need to maintain it too to make the maximum use of the money you have invested into getting this equipment at home for your convenience.
Power protection: The display screens are sensitive and might turn non functional in case of a power failure or fluctuations. So you need to check if there is proper earthing of the switch and try not to meddle with the switch used for the treadmill.
Belt renewal: You need to change the belt when it wears out. It might not be as smooth as it was, keep a check every 90 days. If you don’t then the treadmill deck might give up earlier. It is better to replace the belt than the deck for obvious reasons.
Belt needs to be arranged in order: If the belt is not stretched out straight from the middle section of the deck then you need to straighten it up. Also you need to keep an eye on the tension the belt produces. It might not remain tight after a constant use. In that case, the bolts are supposed to be tightened. It shouldn’t be too tight either, else it would hamper the activity of the motor and wheels.
Lubrication: To keep the machine running in a smooth motion you need to keep it lubricated. Prevent the parts of it from rusting and increase the life of the machine. You should check if your machine is pre-lubricated or not. Else make use of 100 percent silicone lubes to apply on the deck after removing the belt in the middle and sides every 3 to 4 months.
Maintaining a cleanliness: If you wish to keep a treadmill within your premises then make sure you clean it at least once every 30 days. After constant use, dirt collects due to the wearing off of the belt and the treadmill deck. You can use a waste cloth or a sponge to shed the dirt off.
Motor should also be kept in mind every 4 months for cleanliness. Keep the user manual handy for cleaning. And always turn the power off before you start the cleaning process. In the end, it also depends on you how long you can jump it’s average life from.
